| notes |
Uncle Sid when a boy was taken to London by Gran's (EMA Kerlogue) employer, Miss Blyth when they lived at the Coy house. (Note -otherwise known as De Coy House) He had a deformed foot. Miss Blyth paid for him to have an operation. She then left the area and no-one knew where Sid was - not even Gran. When it was time for him to leave hospital no-one knew who he was or where he came from, so they decided to put him in a Home after he left the convalescent home. Gran must have eventually been told by Miss Blyth where he was and so he came home - very hazy about how long (he's been away?) and age etc. when he came home..." : from notes left by Kathleen Young4
Kathleen Young wrote: "Uncle Sid, (Sidney Childs), when he was at Boreham, brought home a young lady. She looked queer to me, her clothes, but it turned out she was in the Salvation Army. She did not convert Uncle Sid, except for a short time."21
"Sid was not born in Boreham, he lived there for over seventy-five years."5 The newspaper cutting of his funeral has him moving to Boreham around 1913, aged about eleven.5 |

| Next door to Gran at Clock House was Mr. and Mrs. Mills and their family, quite a large one, and Uncle Sid married Annie. She was younger than he was, ten years or so, she married at about eighteen. This was surely the happiest decision Uncle Sid ever made because Annie was perfect for him: obviously lived for him only. They had one son Peter, he in turn grew up and had five children, who live half a mile away from their grandparents. |
