| notes |
Known as Uncle Ernie. He worked with my Grandad, his brother, Edwin Young, as thatchers and hay tiers, for a Mr George Wright who had a saddler's shop in town as well as Cleveland's farm.106
Uncle Ernie (Ernest Young) would go to Uncle Bill, (William Young)'s house next to New Cottage on Sunday mornings to cut hair. He did a marvellous trade and charged about four-pence or sixpence a person. Apparently another relative, possibly Great Grandad, had also done this.21
He had Hugh, Bill's "eldest son".21
When he was 65 or 70 he took a gardener's job at Canfield.106
He lived in a cottage on Bannister Green at the time of the 1910 Finance Act, the owner being Peter Sewell. |
